Tiffany Cuaresma

Tiffany Cuaresma (b. 2001) is a composer and vocalist captivated by music’s powerful ability to resonate with others. Her music has received awards from the National YoungArts Foundation, National Young Composers Challenge, Austin Symphony Orchestra’s Texas Young Composers Competition, and the Emerging Young Composers Competition. Cuaresma is a Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artists Composition Program alumna and the Luna Composition Lab James Rosenfield Fellowship Recipient, in which her music was performed by the International Contemporary Ensemble.

Cuaresma has also composed music for internationally-acclaimed guitarists Thu Le, Bokyung Byun, and Steve Cowan for the New Music Initiative for Guitarists and Composers’ Sounding Board Project, a project in association with the Guitar Foundation of America’s #Tearsfor2020 Campaign. Her music has also been recorded and featured by international organizations such as Guitar Salon International. Cuaresma has also been invited to attend the upcoming Britt Festival Orchestra Fellowship in 2021.

In addition to concert music, Cuaresma enjoys film scoring and multi-disciplinary projects. She has scored several films and was selected to participate in the NYU Summer Screen Scoring Orchestral Track. She has also composed and conducted an original two-act opera production, "The Promise", in 2019. Currently, Cuaresma is writing a piece for acclaimed classical concert pianist Jon Nakamatsu in collaboration with visual artist Simon Dinnerstein for the Musaics of the Bay “Stay-at-Home” Symposium.

Cuaresma is also an active vocalist and performer. She is a classically-trained soprano and is pursuing a Voice Concentration at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music. She has recorded vocals for a wide expanse of genres including contemporary classical new music, art songs, arias, and original pop singles. 

Cuaresma is currently pursuing a B.M. in music composition and studying business at Rice University. In her free time, she works with the San Diego Human Trafficking Prevention Committee to prevent human trafficking in San Diego, CA. Cuaresma’s goal is to combine her academic and musical interests to make a positive difference with music.
