Program Note:
Voyage to Proxima Centauri is a programmatic piece that illustrates a neo-epoch scenario in which Earth has been exhausted of its resources, and the human race must travel to the star system, Proxima Centauri. The opening bowed vibraphone and bowed crotales on the timpani paint the pictures of an ethereal star system as the fast viola and cello harmonic glissandos and the violins’ col legno battuto depict racing shooting stars and sparkling celestial particles.
